Robin is known internationally as a teacher through her books about design, typography, desktop publishing, and web design. She has been credited with making technology and design skills accessible to everyday computer users and for originating a style of computer book thats readable, understandable, and entertaining. Her first two computer books are considered classics: The Mac is Not a Typewriter and The Little Mac Book, now in their 2nd and 10th editions. Her books have been published in over twenty different languages. Her background as a professional designer enables her to not only write about design and production, but to actually design and produce the books that she authors. The result is always a book that communicates with clarity and style, and many of her books are award-winning and best-sellers.
After 30 years of working as an art director, designer, illustrator for a dozen advertising agencies and as a freelancer, John wasn't about to let the web medium go by without getting involved. He and David Rohr were working together in the art department of a publishing company when they saw their first glimpse of this new thing, the World Wide Web, at a local ISPs office around midnight one evening. It was just a matter of months before they resigned simultaneously from the publishing company and started a web design firm, West of the Pecos. Many HTML pages later, John resigned from West of the Pecos to work on book projects with Robin (such as The Non-Designers Web Book, The Little iBook Book, Robin Williams Design Workshop, and Robin Williams Web Design Workshop), consult on web projects, and to pursue other computer graphics related projects.
David Rohrs graphic design background includes more than 15 years as a designer/art director/digital consultant in Wichita, Kansas, New York City, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was co-founder of West of the Pecos Web Design, and is now a partner/co-founder and Creative Director of PanoramaPoint Web Development. His design talent and visual communication expertise, combined with his knowledge of production, project management, and web technology make him a critical part of PanoramaPoint and of the Web Design Workshop book.
