Design notes:

Each of the navigation items is a small JPEG slice that has a swap image behavior assigned to it. We used Dreamweaver’s Behaviors palette to which image file would be replaced by a mouseover, and which image file would replace the swapped image.

The thin vertical type used in the headline (Plaza Cafe Home Made) was too blurry for our tastes, even though we had used the “crisp” option of anti-aliasing. To make it sharper, we enlarged its view in our Photoshop layout document and hand retouched each letter with the pencil tool and the eraser tool.

The pencil tool was used to paint solid color into the vertical strokes where anti-aliasing had blurred the edge. The eraser tool was used to remove light shades of blurred edge that were unecessary.

Using Dreamweaver’s Properties palette, we set the table cell containing the cup cake man to have a vertical alignment of “Top” so the illustration would stay at the top of the cell, even when the neighboring text cell was strectched beyond its original shape.
