design, advanced web design, enhanced web technology, project bidding
and billing, project management, forms, audience development, content
development, site architecture, and more.
Design notes:
The JPEG nav images use image mapped links
rather than slice-based links. The top four buttons are all one
JPEG slice, and the foot button is a seperate slice.
This was done to minimize the size of the nav JPEGs. We sliced the
foot image so that the background area to the right of the foot
could be a seperate slice containing a transparent GIF, allowing
the background image to show through. The nav graphics line up perfectly
with the tiled background image, creating a seamless patch between
the nav elements and the background image.
The subhead (How much can you learn) and teacher
names were set in an aliased font designed for 20 point display,
and saved as GIF files.
The HTML text under the teacher names was placed
in nested tables sized to 90%. The cells in which the nested tables
were placed had been assigned the HTML horizontal cell alignment
of align="top". That alignment, plus the 90% table width,
created the alignment we wanted with the teacher names.
The icons on the right side of the page are purely
for decoration and to add some fun and some web icon symbology to
the page. The icons were saved as one GIF file, weighing only 3K.
